Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reliability Centered Maintenance

Smart1 Management converted existing RCM course material to be FAA specific using a Lead Engineer, a Senior Engineer, and an Engineer to develop RCM familiarization and training courses in accordance with the FAA standard that was Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Jal0l 1 compliant and adheres to the latest FAA maintenance guidelines.

Two resultant RCM courses were developed:

The first was an introduction to RCM for managers, logisticians, and new employees and the second course similar to the NAVSEA Level II course, educated the students in the FAA’s Classic RCM process.

Smart1 provided the following support for this effort:

  • Training classes consisted of 20 students per class and was conducted at one of the Government facilities of choice.
  • Smart1 provided two instructors, consisting of a Senior Engineer and a Junior Engineer.
  • Smart1 provided the necessary equipment to perform the training (e.g. laptop, etc).  We also provided a list of the materials and equipment used to conduct the training so that FAA personnel could reproduce the training at the FAA ‘s Academy should the FAA choose that option for training.
  • At the FAA’s request, Smart1 provided evaluators (Senior Engineer and Junior Engineer) to evaluate the training that the FAA provided to its personnel.
